Lechmere Train with Donuts

As I toil away here at           Sean Boyce Studios

one of my many pictorial themes I develop is the continuation of the expression of the grandeur, romance, and adventure of the American locomotive.

And - hey - in this one I also was able to incorporate some of my favorite things: Donuts!

Oil on canvas, 9" x 12", 2011, $350.00

Nail Salon with Girl with ipad

Oil on canvas, 48" x 72" 2011, sold.    Sean Boyce Studios.com

I get so greedy for imagery when I paint Boston scenes that I'm tending to zoom back further and further in order to see more. With this piece I decided to buck that trend and zoom in to find that there is always plenty to look at no matter how far you pull back or how close you push in.

Contaminated by Adam J. O'Day

Sean Boyce Studios is proud to have the works of Adam J. O'day included in the upcoming exhibit entitled "Boston Breakthrough" featuring five local painters.

An avid art patron named Stephanie noted brilliantly the other day upon viewing it,

"It's like Berlin Wall graffiti meets Boston on a rainy night"

Terrific Tuesdays

Hi Art World!

Myself and Steven James Taylor have taken it upon ourselves to support the well storied Provincetown Art Scene by ascending to the region every Tuesday for this wonderful summer of 2011 and painting on Commercial Street in Proximity to the newest art institution / phenomenon to augment the prominence of said art scene: Iron Phonix Studio at 398 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657.

Here is a visual key as Steven is photographed and interviewed by the ethereally charming Carolyn for The Christian Science Monitor's upcoming article about - you guessed it THE PROVINCETOWN ART SCENE!

The Ptown Project

Sean Boyce Studios is proud to announce "The Ptown Project". In an effort to promote Provincetown's newest player; art gallery The Iron Phoenix which debuts on Commercial Street this the upcoming 2011 summer season, Steven James Taylor and Sean Boyce are going to take time out of their busy schedules to paint on the premises of said gallery every Wednesday from now until labor day rain or shine. The artists are looking forward to being up in the action in America's first art colony, recording all the fun on canvas, and causing general artistic phenomena.

Don't feel left out if you can't make it to Ptown every Wednesday (although I do suggest you try) because I'm going to produce a primitive video blog of the situation starting on June 22.

Steve and I came up with this idea today while we painted in the wind at the boardwalk in Sandwich today. The cloud formations were quite enthralling and we got that for posterity (pics soon!)

The Valhalla, oil on canvas, 15" x 16", 2011

Ahhh.... Southie in the morning, gotta love it. The clang of the bouys, the caw of the seagulls, the fresh Atlantic air just whipping all your troubles down to Cape Cod. Got a picture of it.

For more on the painting click here (then scroll down - sorry about all the work but I like links.)

M.I.T. in Springtime, oil on linen, 2011, 30" x 48"

Congrats all you college Grads!! Thanks for looking at Sean Boyce Art all year posted up in the cities and towns of Metro Boston while you were busy trying to study - I hope my dazzling representational color fields of love didn't distract you too much (not).

Anyway, in my quest to paint a picture of every square inch of Boston before I die I probably got your school into at least one painting so far.

Here's a painting that definitely got a "piece" of The Massachusetts Institute of Technology - get this image into your devices pronto - (and come see it in person in a brick and mortar studio - limited time!!)

"The Corner Snack Bar"

Oil on canvas, 18" x 24", 2011 I've done three paintings of the inside of this diner. For some reason I love to paint restaurants and bars. This piece could conceivably go in my "Boston Bars" series which I'm planning to exhibit internationally in 2013.
