The Art of Poetry Exhibition

at Cataumet Arts Center 76 Scraggy Neck road, Cataumet Village, Bourne, MA 02534-0240
(508) 563-5434.

Live Poetry Reading w/ Bob Zappacosta & Opening Reception Sat. April 2, 2-4 pm.

I based my painting on Rob's poem: Talking Sylvia

         There was no
         contrast between the skyline
        and the vertical steel bars
        that lined the Bourne Bridge.

        The day was gray -
        and a melancholy mist
        hung over
        the Cape Cod Canal

Now it takes a bit of talent to pour
a shot of Bushmills into one's coffee while driving around one of those
New England rotaries.  Jack - was a pro at it.
He also was a pretty good painter when he had to be
and this was one of those times he
damn well had to be. The "check guage" light came on.  Jack new he would
have to stop if he was going to make it to Wellesley and

get that contract. So he said his goodbyes to
Alexander Hamilton at the Shell station and drove
the rest of the way alone, sadly, without the company
of anyone famous enough to get
themselves into print. Wellesley, he mused to himself, isn't that
where Plath used to live?
Little did Jack know he would soon be painting

         a seven room house
         only three streets over
         from 26 Elmwood Road.,
         the place where she
         first tried to commit

         suicide.

Lauren's Nails (164 Newbury)

My Charles Street picture DID sell before I could even post it online so did this, my picture of the building next door to Sean Boyce Studios

Speaking of Newbury Street, I'm in the throes of upgrading my studio to the front space of the building so I'll have a nicer spot to work and for people to come see my work.

Here's the new pic (sold)

Charels Street - Studio Upgrade

Oil on canvas, 18" x 24", 2011.

Sorry about the blurry picture - I'll re - shoot soon. This is another painting which (I'm pretty sure) has sold before I've even gotten a chance to properly photograph or post it online.

Good news! I've been moving from the back studio into the front for a few days now over at 162 Newbury Street.

I hope everyone (including myself) loves the new and improved space!

Hereford and Commonwealth

This piece will make it's boloco debut on Monday March 28, 2011 at

It features my version of the Burrage Mansion as well as some Bostonians, and other cool features.

This piece was painted en plein aire with local Virtual Realist Brian Harkins as part of a collaborative project which will continue the immersion of Sean Boyce art into cyberspace. (It of course begins with Biff The Cyberpunk).

"Megansett Beach with Osprey and Blue Crab"

This piece will be on display at Gallery 333 in North Falmouth this summer June 8-21, 2011, along with a bunch of other brand new local (Buzzards Bay Watershed) scenes by myself.

The show will also feature legendary Cape Cod Painter Betty Carroll Fuller who I consider myself very lucky to run into sometimes in North Falmouth during serendipitous morning jogging meetings. She has so much wisdom and passion to share about art, and she certainly does so with her art as well.

This one is Oil on Canvas, 36" x 48", 2011. Go to http://seanboyceart.com for more fun

Another wild week on Newbury Street

Gettin' color on Newbury Street. I've been getting ready to move into the front facing studio over at 162 Newbury. I've got about eight paintings going all the time, I've sent out my press release for the world premiere of Ryan SanAngelo's and my upcoming children's book, Bye Bye Balloon, I'm getting ready for the reception where I'll place all the illustrations around the room with the text, so you can walk around the room reading and looking. You'll basically be inside the book. I've been painting around town with Marc Morin also. I've got two going in the new "Concept and Reaction" series with him, one in Back Bay and one in The North End.

"Public Alley 439"

Here's to transmigrating ordinary places to higer levels.

This piece was inspired (like all art) by many things. From the urban settings in my Batman and Spiderman comics which I thrived on as a child (still do), on up to the physical city that I work and live in. When I create the larger image from this study I might name it Back Bay, 12:01 am in tribute to an awesome painting I've seen by contemporary Boston Painter Sean Flood.

Thank you for reading this post from http://seanboycestudios.com/
